Originally a Malaysian delivered 1997 BMW Z3 1.8 in Montreal Blue. This Z3 at some point in its life, prior to export from Malaysia, experienced a full strip down, respray and rebuild. The drivetrain out of a European E36 M3 was wedged in this small, light convertible. More specifically, a hot rod of an s50b32. The car was imported into the US in the early 2000’s and has resided with a renown local BMW shop ever since. We’re honored to represent the car for them. This z3 has only been driven on rare occasions, hence the low KM’s since its build overseas.

Exterior:

Repainted in a very appealing blue, almost a dark version of Laguna Seca Blue. The clear is healthy and consistent. Clear bras have been applied to the nose of the car as well as the front of the rear quarter panel flares. The branding stickers along the rockers are vinyl and will remove with some heat. No major dents or dings, just some small nicks and usual signs of wear for a vehicle of this age. Z3M bumpers/skirts have been fitted. Some curb rash on the front valance. Soft top is in good condition with no immediate needs.

Interior:

A pair of blue z3m seats in good condition with a slight amount of fading but no rips or tears. Electric functions as they should, however the drivers seat has about 1/2 inch of play forwards and back. Carpet is very clean. Car has the factory door cards from when it was a 1.8l. Dash is very clean, an easy to use radio has been installed and paired with a massive sub that is custom fitted between the seats. All gauges and dials work. Heat blows hot, AC will need a recharge. No lights on outside of ABS. Odometer reads 41,2xx kilometers, the amount the car has traveled since the swap was done. Hartge pedal covers, Hartge e brake handle, UUC short shifter with matching gear knob.

Mechanical:

This car will break traction whenever you want it too. The European M3 spec s50b32 fires right up, zero odd noises . Valve cover and intake manifold have been paint matched. Car idles beautifully, no smoke. Exhaust is the OEM euro spec headers to a Hartge header back exhaust. No catalytic converters. Suspension is Bilstein all the way around. SSR wheels with color matched inners. Upgraded BBK kit, braided lines. Very large strut brace. Everything feels very tight, chassis is extremely stiff. Dinan carbon fiber intake. Short shifter feels very precise and easy to get used to. Clutch is very consistent, as is transmission. Preferred finned differential cover. Vehicle has not dropped any fluids since arrival at our shop. Recent refresh of fluids, ignition coils and spark plugs, vanos has been addressed. All in all the car drives like its on rails, makes all the right exhaust/intake noises. This is an absolute riot of a car!
