Finally stateside! This is an amazing little e36, something of a unique piece as it is one of very few 318”is” models. We’ve done our research on the “is” special features but continue to come up short as this is a genuine BMW of Japan model with little marketing, however it seems as though this is a very special e36. Sporting Schwarz black original paint in amazing condition over leather/cloth interior, this car looks great! Straight body, light signs of wear, original fitted M sport exterior kit. This is a slicktop car with roughly 64,000 original miles.
Wheels look to be a special edition offering to BMW Japan, as we have seen them advertised with special spec/individual cars. Meaty summer tires are mounted and balanced perfectly as are some lowering springs. Car handles beautifully, drives with zero issues. Engine sounds very healthy, transmission shifts perfectly. Zero smoke or odd noises. Plenty of power out of the 1.8 liter four cylinder with an amazing handling feel as the weight is so far back. We actually prefer this one over the 323i that is in our shop.
Interior is very clean, no rips or tears all the way around. Manual seat adjustments that work perfect and save some weight. Factory radio works awesome, as does climate control. Zero pixels missing, zero lights on the dash or warnings on the OBC. Steering wheel is interesting as its a base wheel but with factory M tri color stitching. Headliner has some pins to hold it tight, but hardly noticeable. Windows and central locking work perfect.
We’ve been driving this one since the night it got to our shop and it hasn’t missed a beat. This is a fantastic E36!
