1982 Range Rover Classic RHD Isuzu Diesel *SOLD*

$13,000.00

This is by far the wildest car we’ve ever brought in, hence the small novel of a description. Please feel free to call us for more info/photos

Think Land Rover Defender mixed in with a touch of Series with a splash of Military Tank. This Right Hand Drive Land Rover is an Australian import with the equipment needed to traverse 1,000 miles without stopping. She’s tall, she’s loud, she smokes, she’s slow and she leaks. But you best believe you could take this rig absolutely anywhere. This Australian and British brain child is the epitome of what you can do with an early Range Rover Classic Chassis. Car is now sitting on a smaller tire setup on Terrafirma Steelies, we can offer it on the white steelies if preferred.

Exterior: Where to begin… The front of the vehicle sports a massive “Roo Bar” which we’ve been told to be early Australian market ARB. Functional LED light bar and Transfer Case Driven winch. CB radio antenna attached to the bumper. Moving back, a snorkel is fitted with the appropriate hardware and filters. Heavy duty rock sliders line the sills of the doors. A period correct roof rack is fitted. Oversized tires with ample tread. Rear swing arm with 5th spare mounted to a similar ARB rear bumper. Plastic arch flares to accommodate the larger tires. Paint is quite clean and original, body is straight. Floors are solid with no holes.

Mechanical: Vehicle had an Isuzu 4jb1t 4 cylinder turbo diesel swapped into it prior to its departure from Australia years ago. Engine fires right up with the appropriate usage of its glow plug, tends to smoke on idle, we’d guess its due for a turbo upgrade soon. Water to air intercooler has been fitted. Engine leaks oil, in typical land rover fashion. Transmission is a 4 speed LT90. High and Low function perfectly. Clutch is healthy. Suspension is Dobinsons all the way around with a twin rear shock setup. Shockingly rust free underside with only some minor surface corrosion. Aftermarket main fuel tank (31 gallon) with twin (11 gal each) Auxiliary tanks that run flush under the sills. Fully electric pump system to transfer from tank to tank with gauges for both sills. Engine bay sports a built in air compressor for off-road usage, power is sent from its dual battery setup and dashboard fixed switch. Comes with compressor lines.

Interior: For being 41 years old, this interior is in amazing shape. No rips or tears on the seats. Carpet is aftermarket and nothing to write home about. Headliner is also DIY. Dash is solid with no warping. Main instrument cluster is semi functional, albeit the added gauges are a useful alternative (egt located behind the steering wheel). Odometer is functional. Manual seats, electric windows (old, slow moving), non sunroof. Functional blowers with extremely rare factory air conditioning (will need a recharge). Radio is aftermarket and does work with AUX input. Small space heater mounted to rear of the center console, we haven’t figured out which switch gives it power. 12V power outlets in the rear of the car with a designated switch on the dash to allocate power, great for a portable fridge. Lights mounted near the rear hatch to see in the trunk area at night. Car is missing its carpet cover for the rear hatch area.

Driving: Think Land Rover Defender and Series but with creature comforts and the uniqueness of a Range Rover Classic. It takes a few trips to fully grasp how to tame this beast, understand its shift pattern, how to hold revs/boost going up hills. But once you do, it feels like you could drive through a house and not even notice (please don’t drive through houses with this car). It’s like an Australian semi truck from the early 80’s.

We’re asking $14,500 in Portland Oregon with a clean US title.
